Music for Wimpole Hall

Listen to delightful music composed especially for Wimpole and peformed on site for the first time in 300 years by baroque experts Eboracum Baroque. The setting is the beautiful and historic St Andrew’s Parsish Church in Wimpole’s parkland.

The concert will feature music by the composer Thomas Tudway who lived and worked at Wimpole from 1714 until his death in 1726. He wrote a Te Deum and Jubilate to be performed at the opening of the Chapel at Wimpole in 1720 though it is likely it never actually received a perforamance at the time. It is a grand piece of music with a full orchestra including oboes and trumpet and chorus and solo sections throughout.

The concert will also include music by Handel and Purcell. A Suite from Purcell’s Fairy Queen will be performed, perfect for midsummer eve including some of the beautiful vocal pieces from this work and the many instrumental dances incorporated throughout.
