Spotlight Concert: Purcell’s Stage Works

Watch on YouTube and Facebook.

Join Artistic Director of Eboracum Baroque, Chris Parsons as he shares his love of Purcell’s great stage works from the end of the 17th century. These performances were huge spectacles with elaborate Italian stagecraft never before seen in London. This spotlight concert delves back into the Eboracum Baroque archive (previously unseen films) and will include the evocative ‘Cold Song’ from King Arthur and instrumental music from The Fairy Queen. It will feature accounts of the first performances in London, animations of the remarkable stagecraft and detail how Purcell led England out of the dark commonwealth to a blossoming period of musical activity.

We’d be really grateful, if you feel able to do so, to give a small donation at the end of this concert. In these challenging times we are extremely grateful for your support. We recommend a donation of £5 but any donation is gratefully received if you are able to make one. This donation will go towards supporting the musicians you have heard today as well as helping to secure the future for Eboracum Baroque. See more information about how to do this securely online at the link below:
