A Georgian Celebration – Stamford Georgian Festival

Eboracum Baroque are delighted to perform as part of the Stamford Georgian Festival and present a varied programme of music from across the Georgian period. The concert features the works of the composer, George Frederick Handel, a favourite of the Georgian Kings in England. They will perform some of Handel’s most famous works including the Water music written in 1717 for a big pubic statement on the river Thames from the King. The King loved it so much he requested it was played three times in a row! As well as instrumental music, Handel brought many celebrity singers to England to perform his large scale operas and oratorios. Eboracum Baroque will perform selections of his virtuosic arias from works including Messiah, Samson and Acis and Galatea. Of course there were many other composers in England during the Georgian period and the concert is an opportunity to hear lesser known works by composers including Boyce, Arne and Sammartini.
