Eboracum Baroque present a reflective programme of music in the run up to Easter. Relax in the wonderful surroundings of St John’s College Chapel and hear ‘some of the best young singers around today’ performing music by Charpentier and Buxtehude’s cycle of 7 Cantatas, Membra Jesu Nostri. This cycle which translates to ‘The most holy limbs of our suffering Jesus,’ divides into 7 separate parts which address each part of Christ’s crucified body: feet, knees, hands, side, breast, heart, and head.
Charpentier’s Le Reniement de St Pierre is also included in this beautiful programme of music and tells the story of Peter’s denial of christ and concludes with the stunning weeping chorus as Peter realises what he has done.
