Purcell’s Heroines: Stories of Love and Loss
Eboracum Baroque return to the wonderful setting of the Long Gallery at Wimpole Hall to perform a recital of works by Purcell featuring some of his most beautiful music written for the stage. The performance focuses on Purcell’s Heroines including from his most famous work, Dido and Aeneas. It also highlights lesser known but beautiful works including Bonduca, Purcell’s take on Boudicca’s fight against the Roman invaders and her eventful downfall. There will be also performances of Purcell’s love songs from numerous other stage works and songs that he wrote across his career.
